A typical LUVcheck visit?

Although there is no “Typical Visit” as everyone has their own unique set of circumstances the below is meant to give a sample of what some LUVcheck visits may look like.

Client 1: Mary, in her late 70s, lives alone in an older home on the Point in NPT RI and has a cat named Felix.
Luvcheck was hired by Mary’s daughter that also grew up in town but now lives New York with her family.
Together working with Mary and Mary’s Daughter we came up with what a typical visit may look like that’s unique to Mary. Below is the LUVcheck list which may change from time to time depending on needs, seasons and other.

  • Check in with Mary and spend some time catching up.
  • Ask probing questions to minimize the potential of senior financial fraud/abuse; Has anyone asked you for money? Has anyone come by the house trying to sell you anything? Have you gotten any strange calls or mailings asking for personal information? Etc
  • Check the basement for water (old foundation) and make sure sump pump is operational.
  • Bring Mary a chocolate croissant every other visit, it’s her favorite.
  • Make sure Felix’s (the cat) kitty litter bin is clean and tidy.
  • Walk the property and report any issues. (tree limbs down, downspouts de-tached, overflowing gutters, rot or mold starting on exterior of home, paint peeling or other?) Smaller tasks will be addressed, and others reported back to Mary and Mary’s Mom.
  • If sink is overflowing, then run the dishwasher and clean some dishes.
  • Check in with Mary as gets time to depart, ask if anything else I can help with.
  • Bring in the trash/recycling Barrels
  • Send Mary’s daughter a text with an update how the visit went.

Client 2: Joe, an 85 year old retired Navy commander, lives in Middletown RI with his wife Joan whom is also in her 80’s and they have a dog named Hunter
LUVcheck was hired directly by Joe and Joan.
Together working with Joe and Joan came up with what a typical visit should look like. Below is the LUVcheck list which may change from time to time depending on needs, seasons and other.

  • Check in with Joe and Joan and spend some time catching up.
  • Ask probing questions to minimize the potential of senior financial fraud/abuse; Has anyone asked you for money? Has anyone come by the house trying to sell you anything? Have you gotten any strange calls or mailings asking for personal information? Etc
  • Take hunter out for a brief walk to do his business.
  • Walk the property and report any issues. (tree limbs down, downspouts de-tached, overflowing gutters, rot or mold starting on exterior of home, paint peeling or other?) Smaller tasks will be addressed, and others reported back to Joe and his wife Joan.
  • Re-Fill or top off the bird feeders on the property.
  • Remove window Air Conditioners that were left in too long and put them in the basement.
  • Bring in the waste and recycling barrels.
  • Salt the walkway front and back for possible ice build up.
  • Bring any mail to the local post office.
  • Check in with Joe and Joan as gets time to depart, ask if anything else I can help with.

Client 3: Anna, retired school teacher in her mid 70’s, lives alone on a small farm in Portsmouth RI, was a division one Basketball Player and has a bad knee!
LUVcheck hired by Anna’s son who lives in Greenwich CT. The son just wanted to make life a little easier for Anna and have the property looked after. Below is the LUVcheck list which may change from time to time depending on needs, seasons and other.

  • Check in with Anna and spend some time catching up.
  • Ask probing questions to minimize the potential of senior financial fraud/abuse; Has anyone asked you for money? Has anyone come by the house trying to sell you anything? Have you gotten any strange calls or mailings asking for personal information? Etc
  • Get the cards out and play a few hands of Poker!
  • Walk the property and report any issues. (tree limbs down, downspouts de-tached, overflowing gutters, rot or mold starting on exterior of home, paint peeling or other?) Smaller tasks will be addressed, and others reported back to Anna and her son.
  • Take Anna for a ride to the beach to smell the salty air and listen to the waves.
  • Check in with Anna as gets time to depart, ask if anything else I can help with.
